Oversized pipe guard KTM EXC, Husqvarna, GasGas 250/300 20-23

The guard fits a new, unbent stock (OEM) expansion chamber. For FMF Gnarly and Fatty exhausts there are the PG08 and PG08 X, and for OXA the PG19. The standard version for the stock expansion chamber is the PG06, and for the EXC and TE 150 TPI from 2020–2023 the PG09. For TBI two-strokes from 2024 there is the PG10.

The PG06 X has the same 8 mm rod construction as the PG06, but it is larger and protects more of the expansion chamber, right up to the bend at the cylinder. It weighs 2.43 kg, and the PG06 1.97 kg. If you want an even stronger guard, the PG11 has a main frame made of 10 mm rod and weighs 3.40 kg. A 10 mm rod is about 2.4 times stiffer in bending than an 8 mm rod, because stiffness grows with the fourth power of the diameter.

The expansion chamber sends the pressure wave back to the cylinder and returns to it the mixture that escaped into the exhaust. A dent changes its shape, and with it the engine's behaviour.

The expansion chamber sits low under the engine, so rocks and logs hit it first. The PG06 X surrounds it with a rod cage. The design is open, does not collect stones or mud, and lets you clean the exhaust and the underside of the engine easily.

We TIG-weld the guard from 304 stainless steel rod, 8 mm throughout, so it is light and stiff. The steel contains about 18% chromium and 8% nickel, and the chromium forms an oxide layer on the surface that protects against rust. After welding we clean and polish it.

The guard needs no drilling or changes to the bike. You can fit it on its own or together with a skid plate: a factory KTM, Husqvarna or GasGas plate, ours, or an Acerbis or AXP plate.

We design the pipe guard from a 3D scan of the bike with the stock exhaust and cut the parts on CNC machines in Katowice, Poland. Professional riders test every new model before it goes on sale.
