Pipe guard KTM EXC, Husqvarna TE 250/300 2017-2019

The guard fits a new, unbent stock (OEM) expansion chamber. FMF, DEP and Fresco exhausts have a different chamber shape. For the OXA expansion chamber there is the PG20, and for Fresco the PG22. For model years 2020–2023 use the PG06, for 2024–2027 the PG10, and for KTM and Husqvarna from 2008–2016 the PG04. You will find a skid plate and pipe guard in one 4 mm aluminium guard as the PG02 (2.30 kg).

The expansion chamber works as a resonator: it reflects the pressure wave back towards the cylinder and pushes back the fresh mixture that escaped into the exhaust. Its shape is matched to the engine, so a dent changes the power delivery.

The expansion chamber runs low under the engine, and it is the part that most often takes hits from rocks and logs. The PG01 surrounds it with a rod cage and takes those hits. The design is open, so it does not collect stones or mud, and you can easily clean the exhaust and the underside of the engine.

We TIG-weld the PG01 from 304 stainless steel rod. The steel contains about 18% chromium and 8% nickel, and the chromium forms a thin oxide layer on the surface that slows rusting. The guard stands up well to water, mud and road salt. After welding we clean and polish it.

You bolt the guard on at four points, two upper and two lower. No drilling or changes to the bike are needed. You can fit it on its own, with our SP01 (aluminium), SP12 or SP13 (HDPE) skid plates, or with plastic plates, for example KTM Six Days, KTM OEM and Acerbis. It also fits with carbon pipe guards.

We design the pipe guard from a 3D scan of the bike with the stock exhaust and cut the parts on CNC machines in Katowice, Poland. Professional riders test every new model before it goes on sale.
