About us
A Polish manufacturer of enduro and hard enduro motorcycle guards, based in Katowice. We have designed and produced them since 2016, each for a specific model and year.
ARTAFON makes protective guards for enduro, hard enduro and cross motorcycles (dirt bikes): skid plates, radiator, pipe, brake disc and TPS guards, footpegs, fan kits and guard sets. Every part is designed from a 3D scan for specific models and years, then cut on CNC machines, bent and welded in Katowice. We weld aluminium and steel; 8 mm plates of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) are heat-bent from a single sheet, with no welds. We have been doing this since 2016, 100% in Poland. artafon.com is the manufacturer’s official shop.
Types of guards: the full list
The type of guard shows in the letters of the product code: SP is a skid plate, RG radiator guards, PG a pipe guard (sometimes together with a skid plate), DG a brake disc guard, FP footpegs and TPS a TPS sensor guard. The letter F marks the version for a bike with a fan fitted, H the version for Husqvarna and GasGas with a linkage guard, X an enlarged or reinforced version, and HX combines both. Below is every product type and the brands we make it for.
Skid plates (bash plates, sump guards, code SP): they cover the underside of the engine, the cases, covers and starter motor. We make them from 4 mm AlMg3 aluminium or 6 or 8 mm HDPE, separately for two-strokes (2T) and four-strokes (4T). For KTM, Husqvarna, GasGas, Beta, Rieju and BMW.
Skid plates with linkage guard (e.g. SP13 and SP16): the plate has an extension that covers the linkage (prolink), the suspension lever under the swingarm, so the bike is less likely to hang up on an obstacle. Made of 6 or 8 mm HDPE, for Husqvarna, GasGas, Beta RR and Rieju. The KTM EXC has no linkage in its rear suspension, so a standard skid plate is enough.
Pipe guards (exhaust guards, expansion chamber guards, code PG): they protect the pipe, the expansion chamber of the exhaust, from denting, so they exist only for two-strokes. Usually an open cage of 304 stainless steel rod; the X version is enlarged or reinforced; there are also skid plate and pipe guard combinations in one part. A guard fits only the pipe it is made for: for KTM, Husqvarna and GasGas we make separate versions for the factory pipe (OEM), FMF (Gnarly and Fatty), OXA and Fresco. We make them for KTM, Husqvarna, GasGas, Beta, Sherco and Rieju.
Radiator guards (radiator braces, code RG): made of 4 mm aluminium, they protect both radiators from bending and impacts. There are versions for bikes without a fan, with the factory fan (F), and sets with our fan (radiator guards + fan). For KTM, Husqvarna, GasGas, Beta, Sherco, Rieju, Yamaha and Husaberg.
Fan kits (radiator fans): a SPAL fan with a radiator bracket, a relay and a cable with the bike’s original connector, with no cutting of the loom or hoses. Kits for specific models of KTM, Husqvarna, GasGas, Beta, Sherco, Husaberg and Yamaha, plus a universal kit for liquid-cooled bikes, also Honda, Kawasaki and Rieju.
Brake disc guards (rotor guards, code DG): made of aluminium. The rear disc guard shields the disc from stones, branches and logs, and the front disc guard also protects the lower part of the fork leg. Rear guards for KTM, Husqvarna, GasGas, Husaberg, Sherco and Rieju, a front guard for KTM, Husqvarna and GasGas.
TPS guards (code TPS): the TPS is the throttle position sensor on injected two-strokes. The aluminium guard replaces the factory plastic cover and protects the sensor in a fall. Separate versions for TPI (up to 2023) and TBI (from 2024) injection, for 250/300 two-strokes from KTM, Husqvarna and GasGas.
Footpegs (foot pegs, code FP): the FP01 is stainless steel, 7 mm lower and 5 mm further back than the factory pegs, with a wider platform that sheds mud. For TBI two-strokes and four-strokes from KTM, Husqvarna and GasGas from model year 2024.
Guard sets: for the KTM EXC 250/300 TBI 2024–2027 there is a ready-made set of radiator guards for the factory fan (RG17 F), a pipe guard (PG10) and a skid plate (SP04). Some products combine several guards in one part, for example the PG03 skid plate and pipe guard for the GasGas EC 2018–2020 and Rieju MR 2021–2025.
Production and fitting
We start with a 3D scan of the actual bike. From it we design a guard that follows the frame and engine and is shaped so that it does not trap mud and stones. The parts are cut on CNC machines; aluminium and stainless steel are bent on a press brake and TIG welded on both sides, and after welding we clean and polish the pipe guards and the welded aluminium guards. The 8 mm HDPE plates are heat-bent from a single sheet. Professional riders test every new model before it goes on sale. Nothing is bought ready-made and sold under our name.
The guards mount on the factory points, with no drilling, bending or welding on the bike. The kit includes all bolts, washers, nuts, spacers and brackets, so you do not have to collect anything separately. Installation instructions as PDF, and for selected kits a video too, are in the Instructions tab; we add more as we go. The materials and construction details are described on the Technology page.
Which motorcycles
We make guards for 11 brands: KTM, Husqvarna, GasGas, Beta, Sherco, Rieju, Yamaha, Honda, Kawasaki, Husaberg and BMW. The main models are enduro bikes: KTM EXC, EXC-F and XC-W, Husqvarna TE and FE, GasGas EC, Beta RR and Xtrainer, Sherco SE and SEF, and Rieju MR and MR PRO 300i. On top of that come the Yamaha 250 YZ, FX and WR 2015–2018 (radiator guards and a fan kit), the Husaberg TE and FE (radiator guards, a rear brake disc guard, a fan kit), the BMW F 800 GS 2024–2026 (skid plate) and a universal fan kit for Honda and Kawasaki. Model years run from 2003 to 2027. We do not make guards to order or for models outside the range.
The KTM EXC, Husqvarna TE and GasGas EC have shared a platform since 2021, so many products fit all three brands. They differ in the rear suspension: the KTM has no linkage, the Husqvarna and GasGas do, which is why we also make versions with a linkage guard for Husqvarna and GasGas. The GasGas EC from 2018–2020 is an earlier design with its own guards. Designs change with each generation: in 2020 KTM redesigned the EXC frames and lowered the radiators, and in 2024 the two-strokes got a new frame and TBI injection in place of TPI (TPI up to 2023, TBI from 2024). Guards for 2023 and earlier do not fit 2024 and newer bikes; the exception is the brake disc guards. We make separate products for each generation, so the range of years in a product name means exactly the years we have fitted and checked it for. What counts is the model year, not the year of purchase or registration.
For hard enduro riders there is a guide, “Hard enduro guards”: four places worth guarding first (the engine underside with the linkage, the radiators with a fan, the two-stroke pipe and the TPS sensor) and the guards we picked for them. The brand–model–year selector next to every product makes the choice easy.
