Made in PolandSkid plate (bash plate) with pipe guard made of 4 mm aluminium for KTM EXC 250/300 and Husqvarna TE 250/300 two-strokes, 2017–2019, with TPI injection and carburettor. One guard covers the underside of the engine and the stock expansion chamber, and you bolt its six mounting points to the frame with no drilling and no changes to the bike. It fits only a new, unbent stock (OEM) pipe (not FMF, DEP or Fresco) and does not fit the 2019 KTM 250/300 XC.
- KTM 250 EXC and 300 EXC (carburettor and TPI): 2017, 2018, 2019
- Husqvarna TE 250 and TE 300 (carburettor and TPI): 2017, 2018, 2019
The guard does not fit the 2019 KTM 250/300 XC. It fits only a new, unbent stock (OEM) pipe, and FMF, DEP and Fresco exhausts have a differently shaped chamber. For OXA and Fresco exhausts from these years there are the PG20 (OXA) and PG22 (Fresco) pipe guards, which you fit with the SP01 plate. The plain pipe guard for the stock (OEM) pipe is the PG01 (1.79 kg), and together with the SP01 plate (0.98 kg) they weigh 2.77 kg against 2.30 kg for this guard. For the 2020–2023 two-strokes there is the PG05.
The guard covers the engine cases and covers from below, and the expansion chamber at the front and side. On a two-stroke the pipe runs low under the engine and is the first thing to meet rocks. The expansion chamber bounces the pressure wave back to the cylinder and its shape is matched to the engine, so a dent changes the power delivery. A cracked case means an oil leak, and replacing it means splitting the engine.
Internal supports hold the guard at a fixed distance from the pipe, the frame and the engine. The guard follows the shape of the pipe and the frame, so it does not collect mud and stones, and a large hole at the lowest point lets mud out.
The PG02 holds on to the bike at six points: two steel brackets at the rear, an aluminium bracket with two bolts at the front, and two bolts in the frame sockets.
We bend the guard on a press brake from 4 mm AlMg3 aluminium (EN AW-5754, PA11) sheet and TIG-weld it on both sides. After welding we clean and polish it. The alloy, with about 3% magnesium, resists corrosion even in salt water, is stiff and keeps its shape.
Fitting needs no drilling and no changes to the bike. We design every guard from a 3D scan of the specific bike with the stock exhaust and cut it on CNC machines in Katowice, Poland. Professional riders test every new model before it goes on sale.
