The guard fits only a new, undented stock expansion chamber. FMF, DEP and Fresco exhausts have a different chamber shape. For Husqvarna and GasGas with a linkage there is the PG05 HX: the same reinforced guard with an additional layer of 6 mm HDPE that covers the linkage.

The guard covers the engine cases and covers from underneath, and the expansion chamber at the front and sides. On a two-stroke the chamber runs low under the engine and is the first part to hit rocks. A dented chamber changes the engine's power delivery. A cracked case means an oil leak, and replacing it means splitting the engine.

Internal braces hold the guard at a constant distance from the chamber, the frame and the engine, and its shape is made so that it does not collect mud and stones. A large hole at the lowest point lets mud out.

Compared with the standard PG05 (6 mounting points, 2.30 kg), the X version adds a spider made of 10 mm stainless steel rod. It holds the guard from above at the three points that stick out furthest, which makes the whole guard much stiffer than the standard one. Together with the brackets the guard has 9 mounting points: 2 steel brackets at the rear, an aluminium bracket with two bolts at the front, two bolts in the frame sockets and three spider points.

We bend the guard from 4 mm PA11 (AlMg3) aluminium sheet and TIG-weld it on both sides. After welding we clean and polish it. The alloy with about 3% magnesium resists corrosion even in salt water, is stiff and holds its shape.

We design every guard from a 3D scan of the specific bike with the stock exhaust and cut it on CNC machines in Katowice, Poland. Professional riders test every new model before it goes on sale.
