Pipe guard KTM EXC, Husqvarna TE 250/300 2008-2016

The guard fits the original KTM OEM expansion chamber (PN 54805107000), new and unbent. It does not fit FMF, DEP or Fresco. For model years 2017–2019 use the PG01 (1.79 kg), and for 2020–2023 the PG06.

The exhaust pipe of a two-stroke carries away the exhaust gases and at the same time works as a resonator: the expansion chamber reflects the pressure wave back to the cylinder and pushes back the mixture that escaped into the exhaust. Its shape is matched to the engine, so a dent changes the power delivery.

The expansion chamber sits low, just above the ground, so on rocks and logs it takes the first hit. The PG04 is an open rod cage: stones and mud do not collect in it, and you can clean the exhaust and the underside of the engine without removing the guard.

We TIG-weld the guard from 8 mm round rod of 304 stainless steel. After welding we clean and polish it. The addition of about 18% chromium and 8% nickel makes the steel resistant to rust, including contact with mud, water and salt. The 8 mm rod is stiff, and the guard stays light.

You bolt the guard on at four points, two upper and two lower. It needs no drilling or changes to the bike. You can fit it on its own or together with our aluminium SP05 skid plate. With plastic skid plates, for example KTM Six Days or Acerbis, you need to drill holes. The guard also fits with carbon pipe guards.

We design the pipe guard from a 3D scan of the bike with the stock exhaust and cut the parts on CNC machines in Katowice, Poland. Professional riders test every new model before it goes on sale.
