Made in PolandRadiator braces (radiator guards) RG02 with a complete fan kit for carburettor two-strokes: KTM EXC 250/300 and Husqvarna TE 250/300, model years 2017–2019. The kit contains braces made of 4 mm aluminium, a SPAL fan with the original KTM plug, a bracket, a sensor/switch, a fuse, screws and rivets. The open frame protects the radiators from the side, and the factory radiator shrouds stay in place. For the TPI injection version choose RG02 Fan Set TPI.
- KTM EXC 250 and 300 (carburettor two-strokes): 2017, 2018, 2019
- Husqvarna TE 250 and 300 (carburettor two-strokes): 2017, 2018, 2019
This kit is for carburettor two-strokes, not for injection. Bikes with TPI injection (two-strokes and four-strokes) have the kit “Radiator guards + fan kit KTM EXC, Husqvarna TPI 17-19 – RG02” with a relay. The RG02 braces alone (0.74 kg) can be bought separately, and the fan with a sensor on its own is in the fan kit “Radiator fan kit KTM EXC, Husqvarna 250/300 17-19 – carburettor”. The full-front guards in these model years are RG01 and RG01 Fan Set.
A radiator on an enduro bike is a thin aluminium core with fins. In a fall onto its side the core bends or twists, the channels crack and coolant leaks out. Without coolant the engine overheats quickly, so a punctured radiator usually means being towed home. RG02 surrounds each radiator with a frame at the side, and the internal supports brace against the bike's frame and are fixed to it, so the force of an impact goes into the frame. The front of the radiator stays open, air flows straight onto the core and the guards do not limit steering lock.
At low speed on difficult terrain hardly any air flows through the radiators, while the engine runs at higher revs and with a lot of clutch slipping. The coolant boils and escapes through the overflow. The fan pushes air through the radiator even when you are standing still or crawling along. It does not replace a healthy cooling system: coolant, cap and sealed hoses.
We bend the guards from AlMg3 aluminium sheet (EN AW-5754, PA11), 4 mm thick, and TIG-weld them. After welding we clean and polish them. It is an alloy with about 3% magnesium, used to build boats because it resists corrosion even in salt water. 4 mm sheet is stiff, keeps its shape and stands up well to abrasion. The whole set with the fan weighs 1.24 kg, of which the RG02 guards alone account for 0.74 kg.
The kit contains the RG02 braces, a SPAL fan with the original KTM plug, a fan bracket, a sensor/switch, a fuse, and screws and rivets. It is a set for both radiators. The factory radiator shrouds stay in place. No drilling or changes to the bike are needed.
We design the guards from a 3D scan of the specific bike and cut them on CNC machines in Katowice, Poland. Professional riders test every new model before it goes on sale.
